What the Prophet ﷺ Taught About Aqeeqah
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself performed Aqeeqah for his grandsons Hasan and Husayn رضي الله عنهما, sacrificing a ram for each. He taught the ummah that this is not merely tradition. It is a Prophetic practice tied directly to gratitude for the gift of a child and the wellbeing of that child.
"For a boy, two goats, and for a girl, one goat."
[Sunan Abi Dawud 2834, Sunan an-Nasa'i 4218]
"Every child is in pledge for his Aqeeqah which should be sacrificed for him on his seventh day, and he should be given a name and his head should be shaved."
[Sunan Abi Dawud 2837, Jami at-Tirmidhi 1522]
The classical scholars have preserved this practice across every generation. Midrar Welfare Foundation's program simply makes it easy for you to fulfill it exactly as the Prophet ﷺ taught, wherever you are in the world.
